Uncover a one hundred year old process used by folklorists to locate the fairy tales that time forgot, censored or concealed…

Pete Jordi Wood's enchanting essay collection, created for his MA thesis, was a finalist for the Folklore Society’s Katharine Briggs Award.

Journey with a queer author and illustrator as he embarks on a quest to find his own Prince Charming within the pages of ancient folklore collections. This research study culminated with the discovery of a centuries-old queer fairy tale, adapted as an original English language variant for the first time. A precious artefact of LGBTQ+ history, potentially dating back to the 13th century, it offers a rare portrayal of a queer hero in the oral storytelling tradition.

In this short essay collection, Wood not only revitalises this forgotten tale but also provides insightful research that legitimises queer folklore's place in history. A must-read for those interested in exploring LGBTQ+ narratives in folklore, highlighting the folkloristic methods that can be applied to locate and analyse them.
